Join us for an interactive training session of the Climate Justice Map to learn who is leading intersectional work on the front lines of climate injustice. With a focus on climate storytelling, this event will spotlight those who are on the ground working to achieve climate justice in their communities and will share the human-centred stories behind the data.
Stories from the front lines, hear from Laurel Kivuyo, Youth Environment Ambassador Tanzania, SADC-youth Climate Envoy, Founder & Director of Climate Hub Tanzania, and Consultant of the Climate Justice Map. Laurel will highlight the women-led organisation across Africa and The Middle East and tell the story of her own orgaisation Climate Hub Tanzania and the work they are doing to further climate justice.
Speaker Spotlight: Laurel Kivuyo, Tanzanian environmentalist and sustainability advocate who holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental health sciences. She is the founder of an NGO called Climate Hub Tanzania, which has made significant strides in building climate resilience and promoting inclusion of youth, women, and indigenous people in climate mitigation efforts. Laurel is recognized for her leadership and commitment to environmental conservation, she is currently serving as the Youth Environment Ambassador in Tanzania.
She also serves as the Climate Youth Envoy for the Southern African Youth Forum, representing 16 countries. She has recently been appointed SHE Changes Climate Ambassador. Her recent climate projects include advocating for zero plastic usage, developing sustainable eco-friendly products, as well as organising hybrid and in-person advocacy campaigns. She has also collaborated with esteemed institutions such as the French Embassy, UNEP, and various national and international organisations to address climate mitigation and adaptation.
