Summary
2023 marks the halfway point for the UN Global Goals (SDGs) – the World’s To Do List and the best available plan, agreed to by 193 countries, to build a fairer world with no one left behind.
We might be halfway to 2030, but we’re far from halfway to achieving the SDGs. The climate crisis impacts every aspect of the Goals, from those living in extreme poverty, to access to education, to habitat loss and climate refugees. We urgently need to mobilise all of our available resources to support those on the front lines and enable bold, tangible collective action for mitigation and adaptation and unavoidable loss and damage.
Project Everyone and the Climate Justice-Just Transition Donor Collaborative hosted a a ‘Goals Night Out’ dinner to bring together those voices at the forefront of this critical work.
We’re particularly grateful to those who addressed the room—thank you to our contributors: Lucy Neal, Artist, Walking Forest, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Head Association for Indigenous Women and Peoples of Chad, Illyasha Peete, Chief of Equity, Justice & Culture, ClimateWorks, Ayesha Dinshaw, Programme Director, Loss & Damage, Climate Justice Resilience Fund, Joshua Amponsem, Founder, GAYO (Green Africa Youth Organisation) and co-Director, Youth Climate Justice Fund, Fleur Newman, Action Empowerment Unit Lead, Gender, Youth and ACE, UN Climate Change Secretariat, Yolando Velasco, Manager, Climate Finance Sub-Programme of the secretariat UNFCCC and Wedad Al Hassan, Head of Youth and Education, COP28 Presidency.
