CELEBRATING OUR ACHIEVEMENTS AT COP28

We write to you after a busy year which saw the launch of the Climate Justice Map in August and its roll out at COP28 in Dubai. The Expo venue was vast and logistically challenging for the 100,000 delegates, making it the largest in COP history. Nevertheless, the CJ-JT team managed to convene a dozen events inside and outside the Blue Zone thanks to collaborations with our fantastic partners: the Entertainment + Culture Pavilion team, Goals House, Kite Insights and Time For Better.

Including: the launch of the Climate Justice Map: a new tool mapping 1,600+ organisations and networks based in the Global South; our upcoming webinar on Nov 9, 14:00 BST in collaboration with our partners Southern African Trust & Southern Africa Youth Forum; recent blog post by Dominique Souris and Joshua Amponsem sharing their reflections as “elder youths” on the evolution of the youth climate funding landscape.

After the success of our ‘Moving the Money’ webinar in April, the CJ-JT team has been busy preparing for our Global South Regranters Network Design Retreat in Bonn, our ‘Disability and Climate Justice’ webinar, and the launch of our brand new website.
It is a pleasure to share with you a range of upcoming opportunities that you can get involved in, as we continue our journey to better fund climate justice activists in the Global South and take the philanthropic community on a much needed learning journey.

Welcome to Climate Justice – Just Transition Donor Collaborative’s September newsletter. In it, you can find what we are doing for Climate Week in New York City and our preparations for COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh.
Philanthropy has a key role to play in supporting ambitious and just climate action across the globe as people come face to face with climate chaos. Whether it is flooding in Pakistan — where a third of the country remains underwater — or the worsening drought in Somalia, we need to act swiftly to support those on the front lines in ways that tackle deep-seated inequities.
